Coconut & Nutella Shake

A dairy-free, vegan Nutella shake with a hint of coconut and lots of plant protein @anotherhungryvegan.comNutella is one of those spreads that vegans and non-vegans dream about. There’s something about that nutty, sweet and chocolatey flavor that makes whatever you put it on spectacular. However, as you probably know already…Nutella is neither vegan nor healthy. BUT I stumbled upon this alternative at Expo West that tastes exactly like the infamous treat. Read on to find out what it is and how to make this delicious shake with Coconut and Vegan Nutella plus some protein for good measure. Continue reading

Dark Chocolate Chip Mint Shake

A vegan minty chocolate protein shake recipe, made with some of my favorite products of this season @anotherhungryvegan.comIs it mid-April already?? Something that almost immediately comes to mind for me when it comes to Spring is mint – the color, flavor and everything in-between. Because Easter, Mother’s Day and my birthday all happen during this season, I also automatically associate it with chocolate. So I figured, why not combine the two in a Sweet Mint Chocolate Shake made with some of my favorite products of the season! Continue reading

Vanilla Lucuma Buckwheat Shake

A high-protein, gluten-free, lower-in-fat Vanilla Lucuma Buckwheat Shake @anotherhungryvegan.comRemember when I promised another Sprout Living recipe in my previous post? Well, you’re looking at it! After trying the Original, Chocolate Maca, and Green Kingdom EPIC Protein flavors I was just dying to use the Vanilla Lucuma in a recipe. This shake/smoothie is nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free and low in fat but still high in protein and fiber. I only recently started using buckwheat in smoothies, and I was amazed at how it makes them so creamy and filling. The frozen pear, vanilla, and spices all compliment the Vanilla Lucuma protein quite nicely. Keep reading on for the recipe! Continue reading

Raspberry Chocolate Chip Shake

A super delicious and healthy vegan Raspberry Chocolate Chip Shake @anotherhungryvegan.comI’ve had a few Sprout Living smoothie recipes on my mind lately, and I couldn’t wait any longer to share them with you! If this is the first time you’re hearing about Sprout Living, well basically they make a line of super nutritious, raw, gluten-free and vegan protein powders. One of my favorite flavors of all time has been their EPIC Protein: Chocolate Maca. Sprout Living recently reformulated their line, and I was eagerly waiting in anticipation to try it out! The first recipe I made with their reformulated Chocolate Maca is for this Raspberry Chocolate Chip Shake, which isn’t your standard protein shake. This one is filled with protein and healthy fats, without any artificial sweeteners or color additives. Believe it or not, the color is from raspberries and the sweetener comes from bananas and dates. Read on for the recipe, and to learn more about one of my favorite products from Sprout Living! Chocolate Cocozia & Espresso Shake

An alternative to that Mocha Coconut Frappuccino you used to love. Plus it's vegan, gluten-free and delicious! @anotherhungryvegan.comExpo was a lot of fun and all, but I was missing smoothies almost the whole time. I ended up with a few bags of samples to take home (luckily I was able to check a separate suitcase), and I wanted to make something special with some of the items. Cocozia also happened to send me some samples of their Chocolate Coconut Water, and although I’ve been featuring some recipes using it on my Instagram, I couldn’t wait to share this particular recipe! This shake tastes like a delicious frappuccino, but it’s even better. Yes, Starbucks might have coconut milk, but I doubt that they have chocolate coconut water on hand!  Continue reading

Chocolate Love Potion Shake

Chocolate Love Potion Shake @anotherhungryvegan.comLove is in the air. You know, if you believe in that sort of thing around Valentine’s Day. Truth is, I really just use February as an excuse to eat more chocolate and heart-shaped foods. However, that doesn’t mean that healthy options can’t be made along the way! I came up with this Chocolate Love Potion Shake using a few of my February Favorites, which include products from Coracao Confections, Righteously Raw, and Growing Naturals. These products all combine to form a truly incredible combo, but you can easily make substitutions if you don’t have them all. Luckily, I will be announcing a giveaway with one of these companies tomorrow that you’ll definitely want to take full advantage of. Plus, another giveaway will be coming to this blog for some more products featured in this recipe in the next week. Stay tuned for those, and keep reading for this spellbinding shake recipe! Pineapple Pomegranate Acai Bowl

Pineapple Pomegranate Acai Bowl Recipe @anotherhungryvegan.com
I have a confession to make…I’ve REALLY been craving an acai bowl. Since going to Nekter Juice Bar, where I was tempted by their delectable-sounding acai bowls but didn’t end up ordering one, I feel like I’ve been missing out. Thankfully Zola sent me a variety of the Acai Juices to choose from, and I had some frozen fruit to help get me by! If you’re not familiar with an acai bowl, it’s typically a thick smoothie made with acai and other fruit. The fun part is the toppings, and you can get really creative with these. I personally love adding sliced fruit, shredded coconut and chia seeds. However, you can go crazy with things like dried fruit, granola, cacao nibs, and even cereal if you’d like (but you didn’t hear it from me). I know I keep putting this out there, but seriously have a go at Zola’s Juice Shop Contest. All you have to do is share a photo of your favorite smoothie recipe. That’s it, and the prizes are truly fantastic! Visit their Facebook page for details on how to enter. Continue reading

Acai Berry Shortcake Smoothie

A sweet (secretly healthy) Acai Berry Shortcake Smoothie @anotherhungryvegan.comWhat’s better than dessert for breakfast? Dessert for breakfast that’s still healthy, full of protein and fiber, that offers a boost of immunity and energy. Of course I’m talking about a smoothie, and this is another one that uses organic acai juice from Zola as well as my classic smoothie add-ins. I know you might be wondering, “is this a snack smoothie or a meal-replacement” and that’s really up to you! You could easily split this smoothie in half with someone for a lighter treat, but personally I like to enjoy it all to myself. Don’t forget to enter your favorite smoothie recipes in the Zola Juice Shop contest over on their Facebook. One of the prizes is a professional Vitamix blender, and I swear by mine when I’m making these super creamy shakes and smoothies. Continue reading

So, you can imagine my excitement when Zola sent me a case of their different-flavored acai juices to try in some recipes and give a little review! Zola also makes coconut waters, if acai isn’t your kind of thing. However, I’ve included a phenomenal recipe in this post that you can try for yourself, in case you aren’t totally sure about what to do with acai juice just yet. While you’re at it, check out Zola’s Juice Shop Recipe Contest where you can enter to win a Vitamix Blender, $200 off your groceries and a 1-year supply of Zola.
