Remember when I promised another Sprout Living recipe in my previous post? Well, you’re looking at it! After trying the Original, Chocolate Maca, and Green Kingdom EPIC Protein flavors I was just dying to use the Vanilla Lucuma in a recipe. This shake/smoothie is nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free and low in fat but still high in protein and fiber. I only recently started using buckwheat in smoothies, and I was amazed at how it makes them so creamy and filling. The frozen pear, vanilla, and spices all compliment the Vanilla Lucuma protein quite nicely. Keep reading on for the recipe! Continue reading

Raspberry Chocolate Chip Shake
I’ve had a few Sprout Living smoothie recipes on my mind lately, and I couldn’t wait any longer to share them with you! If this is the first time you’re hearing about Sprout Living, well basically they make a line of super nutritious, raw, gluten-free and vegan protein powders. One of my favorite flavors of all time has been their EPIC Protein: Chocolate Maca. Sprout Living recently reformulated their line, and I was eagerly waiting in anticipation to try it out! The first recipe I made with their reformulated Chocolate Maca is for this Raspberry Chocolate Chip Shake, which isn’t your standard protein shake. This one is filled with protein and healthy fats, without any artificial sweeteners or color additives. Believe it or not, the color is from raspberries and the sweetener comes from bananas and dates. Read on for the recipe, and to learn more about one of my favorite products from Sprout Living! Green Superfood Protein Pancakes
Who doesn’t love pancakes for breakfast? I swear these are healthier and lower-in-fat than your standard pancakes and other sweet breakfast items. I’m super excited that Sprout Living has recently reformulated their line of EPIC Protein, and they sent a few samples for me to experiment with in the kitchen. Their Green Kingdom is packed with superfoods and greens including sacha inchi, chlorella, spirulina, kale, moringa and many more! One serving is 20g of raw, organic and gluten-free plant protein. I’ve been experimenting with protein-packed breakfast items besides smoothies such as protein oats and banana ice cream, and pancakes were just calling my name. If you’re gonna have pancakes, why not make them packed with great ingredients? Continue reading
Pear, Sesame & Vanilla Shake
I really like tahini, and I mean REALLY. There’s just something about the rich, slightly bitter taste that I love combining with sweet flavors like fruit and Bee Free Honee. As promised, this is another review/recipe post using stone-ground raw and organic nut butters from Dastony. Expect of course, this one is nut-free since it’s made with raw sesame seeds. I basically took one of my favorite smoothie combos of all time (pears and almond butter) and turned it into an allergen-friendly, mostly-organic protein shake. Continue reading

Mocha Cherry Maca Protein Shake
I’ve been just a little obsessed with protein shakes lately. Ok, I’m pretty much always obsessed with them. If you haven’t gathered it already, I love coming up with creative smoothies recipes with flavor combos as unique as possible. However, I also like to use healthy ingredients I have on hand while putting a fun spin on the recipes. This high-in-protein shake happens to feature Mushroom Matrix, as another part of my recipe series this week that includes their Fit Matrix. Check out my original review of their product if you’re curious about the benefits of mushroom powders. Otherwise, keep reading on for this fun and fabulous recipe! Continue reading
Tahini Espresso Protein Shake
As promised, here is the first of a few recipes I will be featuring using Mushroom Matrix’s Fit. This protein shake happens to include a few of my favorite brands and flavors all together in one delicious (and totally healthy) post-workout shake. Who would’ve thought that things like tahini, coffee, pears, bananas and mushroom powder would go together? I wouldn’t have at first but trust me, this was one extremely happy accident that I discovered. I even boosted it with some Growing Naturals Vanilla Blast rice protein, so this entire smoothie has almost 30g of plant-based protein. The added Mushroom Matrix makes it complete with an added boost of immunity, while helping fight fatigue and increase your fitness performance. You don’t even have to drink this shake after a workout, but I can promise that it’s a super satisfying treat to have after your morning gym session or run outside. Let’s face it, we all want to get in more exercise now that the New Year is upon us. This decadent shake makes it all worth it! Continue reading

If you didn’t get the chance to read my review on their coconut water, you can check it out here along with a bonus recipe. This smoothie ends up being a potassium packed, energizing and hydrating drink all in one. It’s perfect for either after your workout, or if you’re looking for a filling but still healthy chocolate treat during the day. Continue reading
Upton’s Naturals Seitan Giveaway (Closed)
People ask me all the time, since I stopped eating meat over 5 years ago, if I ever miss it. My answer? Absolutely not! There are so many vegan meats that taste just like (and often better than) their non-vegan counterparts. One of my all-time favorites is seitan, a cruelty-free meat made of wheat protein that is super versatile and is sure to fool any omnivore with its taste and texture. Upton’s Naturals makes some of the best seitan in my opinion, and I have been in love with their products ever since my first bite. Continue reading
NuZest – Clean Lean Protein
NuZest sent me some of these protein powder samples to try out, and I was so thrilled when I saw the flavors! Not only do they make the traditional chocolate and vanilla, they also make strawberry, cappuccino and natural-flavored vegan protein. This is definitely a first for me, so I went all-out and tried NuZest’s Clean Lean Protein in a few smoothies. I really love having a protein smoothie in the morning because it’s easy and a good way to get in extra nutrients when I don’t have a ton of time. Check out just a few ways you can enjoy their protein powders in some gluten-free, protein-packed, and nutritious smoothies! Continue reading
