Pineapple Pomegranate Acai Bowl

Pineapple Pomegranate Acai Bowl Recipe @anotherhungryvegan.com
I have a confession to make…I’ve REALLY been craving an acai bowl. Since going to Nekter Juice Bar, where I was tempted by their delectable-sounding acai bowls but didn’t end up ordering one, I feel like I’ve been missing out. Thankfully Zola sent me a variety of the Acai Juices to choose from, and I had some frozen fruit to help get me by! If you’re not familiar with an acai bowl, it’s typically a thick smoothie made with acai and other fruit. The fun part is the toppings, and you can get really creative with these. I personally love adding sliced fruit, shredded coconut and chia seeds. However, you can go crazy with things like dried fruit, granola, cacao nibs, and even cereal if you’d like (but you didn’t hear it from me). I know I keep putting this out there, but seriously have a go at Zola’s Juice Shop Contest. All you have to do is share a photo of your favorite smoothie recipe. That’s it, and the prizes are truly fantastic! Visit their Facebook page for details on how to enter. Continue reading

Acai Berry Shortcake Smoothie

A sweet (secretly healthy) Acai Berry Shortcake Smoothie @anotherhungryvegan.comWhat’s better than dessert for breakfast? Dessert for breakfast that’s still healthy, full of protein and fiber, that offers a boost of immunity and energy. Of course I’m talking about a smoothie, and this is another one that uses organic acai juice from Zola as well as my classic smoothie add-ins. I know you might be wondering, “is this a snack smoothie or a meal-replacement” and that’s really up to you! You could easily split this smoothie in half with someone for a lighter treat, but personally I like to enjoy it all to myself. Don’t forget to enter your favorite smoothie recipes in the Zola Juice Shop contest over on their Facebook. One of the prizes is a professional Vitamix blender, and I swear by mine when I’m making these super creamy shakes and smoothies. Continue reading

Vibrant Veggies

Vibrant Veggies Sauerkraut Review @anotherhungryvegan.comEven the healthiest of diets need an extra boost every now and then. Whether you’re making an effort to eat a little healthier this month as a resolution, or looking to ease any tummy issues, fermented foods are a great solution. I am so happy to have been given the chance to try out some products from Vibrant Veggies, which is a local company to Colorado that I first discovered at Neat Market (an all-vegan pop-up shop in Denver). They make sauerkraut in four different, fun flavors that happen to be super versatile. I read the other day that fermented foods like kraut are considered a superfood trend of 2015. Normally I don’t follow “diet” trends, but I can attest to the power of sauerkraut in terms of not just flavor, but overall digestive health and beyond. Continue reading

NibMor Dark Chocolate

Nibmor Chocolate Review on Anotherhungryvegan.comHappy New Year! Since the holidays have officially come to an end, I’m thinking of ways to ease into the New Year and incorporate my favorite treats in a less-indulgent way. Cookies, pies, candy, and cakes are fun, but they aren’t always the best way to kick off your New Year’s Resolutions. I personally love a good piece of high-quality dark chocolate as a guilt-free dessert, which is where this review comes in. Nibmor was so generous to send me a few of their best-selling chocolate bars. I was so excited to try them that I ended up purchasing a few of their other bars to make this a complete review! Go Raw Super Cookies

IMG_5297
Raw vegan food is something I’ve dabbled in a few times before, beginning back to my visit to 42º RAW in Copenhagen, Denmark (which I’ve actually reviewed here if you’re interested). Something that specifically catches my eye about raw food is the ability to use simple ingredients and sometimes-unusual combinations of flavors. One of my favorite raw dishes is and has always been the desserts. I love dessert in general, but raw desserts have a wonderful, natural taste to them and they don’t give you a sugar high after enjoying them. Sometimes you want a flavorful, healthier dessert with a nice crunch/chewiness to it. That’s where Go Raw’s line of Super Cookies come in. They make these raw treats in 6 different flavors, using simple components such as sesame seeds, coconut, dates, and spices. I really enjoyed this company’s energy bars so I couldn’t wait to see how their other raw products compared. Go Raw sent me their raw cookies to try each flavor and here are my thoughts on them. Vanilla, Matcha & Coconut Macaroons

IMG_1785
I made these Vanilla, Matcha & Coconut Macaroons for another recipe using my Kiss Me Organics Matcha Powder which came out even better than I expected! This is also a no-bake and technically raw recipe, full of natural sweeteners, and nut-free (as long as you can still have coconut). The macaroons (or you can call them truffles) have a pleasant and sweet green tea flavor with shredded coconut and just a hint of vanilla.  Continue reading
