I can imagine that happiness looks something like getting chocolate delivered to your door. Am I wrong? I know Valentine’s Day is getting super close, but it’s never too late (or too early depending on when you read this) to start shopping for that special someone. Who did I buy these for you may ask? To be honest I bought a few different varieties for myself and as gift options to have on hand. Luckily, I had these just in time for my mom’s birthday and she helped me out in reviewing them! Chocolate Love Potion Shake
Love is in the air. You know, if you believe in that sort of thing around Valentine’s Day. Truth is, I really just use February as an excuse to eat more chocolate and heart-shaped foods. However, that doesn’t mean that healthy options can’t be made along the way! I came up with this Chocolate Love Potion Shake using a few of my February Favorites, which include products from Coracao Confections, Righteously Raw, and Growing Naturals. These products all combine to form a truly incredible combo, but you can easily make substitutions if you don’t have them all. Righteously Raw Chocolate
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner…and you know what that means! Good food, candy, baked goods and of course chocolate! Now, rather than buying your special someone a box of cheap chocolates I have a proposition in mind. Why not give them some super-high quality, vegan superfood chocolates made with organic, raw ingredients? Miyoko’s Kitchen
The world of vegan cheese has been changed forever. Or should I say, “cultured nut products”? Thanks to Miyoko’s Kitchen, a maker of incredible gourmet nut-based products in a wide variety of flavors, no one will ever miss out on cheese again. For me personally, I was never a big fan of cheese (I know…shocker!) but it’s nice to have vegan options like these that are produced in a similar fashion as dairy-based cheeses. Miyoko’s Kitchen is based out of Fairfax, California but don’t fret if you live somewhere else in the United States. They are able to ship nationwide! All you have to do is visit their Online Store, create your custom collection, and have them sent right to your doorstep with 2-day shipping. This was the January Jubilee collection that they were selling for a limited time, but now you can pick and choose which cheeses you want. You really won’t want to miss out on trying these for yourself, ex-cheese-lover or not! Continue reading
Pineapple Pomegranate Acai Bowl
I have a confession to make…I’ve REALLY been craving an acai bowl. Since going to Nekter Juice Bar, where I was tempted by their delectable-sounding acai bowls but didn’t end up ordering one, I feel like I’ve been missing out. Thankfully Zola sent me a variety of the Acai Juices to choose from, and I had some frozen fruit to help get me by! If you’re not familiar with an acai bowl, it’s typically a thick smoothie made with acai and other fruit. The fun part is the toppings, and you can get really creative with these. I personally love adding sliced fruit, shredded coconut and chia seeds. However, you can go crazy with things like dried fruit, granola, cacao nibs, and even cereal if you’d like (but you didn’t hear it from me). I know I keep putting this out there, but seriously have a go at Zola’s Juice Shop Contest. All you have to do is share a photo of your favorite smoothie recipe. That’s it, and the prizes are truly fantastic! Visit their Facebook page for details on how to enter. Continue reading
Acai Berry Shortcake Smoothie
What’s better than dessert for breakfast? Dessert for breakfast that’s still healthy, full of protein and fiber, that offers a boost of immunity and energy. Of course I’m talking about a smoothie, and this is another one that uses organic acai juice from Zola as well as my classic smoothie add-ins. I know you might be wondering, “is this a snack smoothie or a meal-replacement” and that’s really up to you! You could easily split this smoothie in half with someone for a lighter treat, but personally I like to enjoy it all to myself. Don’t forget to enter your favorite smoothie recipes in the Zola Juice Shop contest over on their Facebook. One of the prizes is a professional Vitamix blender, and I swear by mine when I’m making these super creamy shakes and smoothies. Continue reading
Zola Juice & A Mocha Acai Shake
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know by now that I am a smoothie-lover at heart. So, you can imagine my excitement when Zola sent me a case of their different-flavored acai juices to try in some recipes and give a little review! Zola also makes coconut waters, if acai isn’t your kind of thing. However, I’ve included a phenomenal recipe in this post that you can try for yourself, in case you aren’t totally sure about what to do with acai juice just yet. While you’re at it, check out Zola’s Juice Shop Recipe Contest where you can enter to win a Vitamix Blender, $200 off your groceries and a 1-year supply of Zola. Visit their page for details, and stay tuned for some future acai recipes on here and my Instagram Continue reading
Vibrant Veggies
Even the healthiest of diets need an extra boost every now and then. Whether you’re making an effort to eat a little healthier this month as a resolution, or looking to ease any tummy issues, fermented foods are a great solution. I am so happy to have been given the chance to try out some products from Vibrant Veggies, which is a local company to Colorado that I first discovered at Neat Market (an all-vegan pop-up shop in Denver). They make sauerkraut in four different, fun flavors that happen to be super versatile. I read the other day that fermented foods like kraut are considered a superfood trend of 2015. Normally I don’t follow “diet” trends, but I can attest to the power of sauerkraut in terms of not just flavor, but overall digestive health and beyond. Continue reading
Go Raw Snacks
Remember when I talked about incorporating more raw foods into my diet? Since my favorite raw vegan restaurant closed its doors, I’ve been wanting to try new raw foods including smoothie recipes, desserts and even snacks. Luckily Go Raw sent me a few of their Flax Snax and Super Chips and they were so much fun to try out! There are 6 different flavors that I got to sample, and I never would’ve thought that raw, gluten-free, nut-free snacks made of seeds would taste so good! Continue reading
