Tahini Espresso Protein Shake

IMG_1056
As promised, here is the first of a few recipes I will be featuring using Mushroom Matrix’s Fit. This protein shake happens to include a few of my favorite brands and flavors all together in one delicious (and totally healthy) post-workout shake. Who would’ve thought that things like tahini, coffee, pears, bananas and mushroom powder would go together? I wouldn’t have at first but trust me, this was one extremely happy accident that I discovered. I even boosted it with some Growing Naturals Vanilla Blast rice protein, so this entire smoothie has almost 30g of plant-based protein. The added Mushroom Matrix makes it complete with an added boost of immunity, while helping fight fatigue and increase your fitness performance. You don’t even have to drink this shake after a workout, but I can promise that it’s a super satisfying treat to have after your morning gym session or run outside. Let’s face it, we all want to get in more exercise now that the New Year is upon us. This decadent shake makes it all worth it! Continue reading

Cashew, Cocozia & Persimmon Smoothie

IMG_8032
When it comes to coconut water, it’s really difficult for me to find a product that fits all of my needs. For one, I try to select only the organic varieties that don’t have any added ingredients like preservatives or sugars. On the other hand, I try to buy coconut water when it’s on sale because it can be a little pricey at a lot of natural grocery stores. If you’re like me with wanting to have all of these needs met, then you’re in luck! Cocozia sent me a box of their 100% organic and vegan coconut water to try in a few recipes. You can buy a whole case of this stuff on sale right now on Amazon.com. I decided to make this both a review and a recipe post, so it’s really a double whammy! Keep reading on for an uber healthy, coconut water recipe that is sure to kick your average smoothie up a notch. I’ll also be posting another holiday-inspired one soon, that you surely won’t want to miss out on either!

Kiss Me Organics was so kind to send me a package of their Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder to try in some recipes. If you didn’t know this by now, I am a big fan of drinks whether it’s hot or iced lattes, smoothies, protein shakes, or milkshakes. I was so eager to try this matcha powder in a few recipes, and one of the first I came up with was a healthy, energizing and filling Matcha Milkshake. Vanilla Chai Protein Smoothie

IMG_7115
I am a big fan of both chai and vanilla and let me tell you, they are even better together! Bhakti Chai makes these chai drinks blended with non-dairy milk as well as concentrates that you can buy to mix with your own milk of choice. I have tried and reviewed Bhakti Chai on here before if you’re curious about all the different varieties they have. This protein smoothie is made using their Toasted Coconut Almond Blend, but you could honestly use any of the Bhakti Chai varieties in place of it. In addition I added a scoop of Plantfusion Unflavored protein powder, but vanilla protein works just as well in this recipe. The final result is a well-balanced sweet and spicy smoothie that brings out the chai-lover in all of us. Continue reading
