Go Raw Super Cookies

IMG_5297
Raw vegan food is something I’ve dabbled in a few times before, beginning back to my visit to 42º RAW in Copenhagen, Denmark (which I’ve actually reviewed here if you’re interested). Something that specifically catches my eye about raw food is the ability to use simple ingredients and sometimes-unusual combinations of flavors. One of my favorite raw dishes is and has always been the desserts. I love dessert in general, but raw desserts have a wonderful, natural taste to them and they don’t give you a sugar high after enjoying them. Sometimes you want a flavorful, healthier dessert with a nice crunch/chewiness to it. That’s where Go Raw’s line of Super Cookies come in. They make these raw treats in 6 different flavors, using simple components such as sesame seeds, coconut, dates, and spices. I really enjoyed this company’s energy bars so I couldn’t wait to see how their other raw products compared. Go Raw sent me their raw cookies to try each flavor and here are my thoughts on them. Navitas Naturals & More Macaroons!

HickmanS_-1Have any of you heard of Navitas Naturals? Well, if not you really ought to check them out! Navitas makes a long line of natural powders, seeds, snacks and more. They specialize in using organic, superfood ingredients that are not only good for us but they taste great too. I was so lucky to have been sent a few items from Navitas Naturals, including their Green Coffee Powder, Acai Powder, and Maqui Powder. I couldn’t wait to try them in a few recipes! Now, I won’t be using the Green Coffee powder in any of these recipes specifically but I’ve tried a few from the Navitas website and they were spectacular. My favorite so far is the Banana Bread Smoothie that tastes exactly like a freshly baked slice! Continue reading on for my super easy, no-bake superfood macaroon recipes. Continue reading

Vanilla, Matcha & Coconut Macaroons

IMG_1785
I made these Vanilla, Matcha & Coconut Macaroons for another recipe using my Kiss Me Organics Matcha Powder which came out even better than I expected! This is also a no-bake and technically raw recipe, full of natural sweeteners, and nut-free (as long as you can still have coconut). The macaroons (or you can call them truffles) have a pleasant and sweet green tea flavor with shredded coconut and just a hint of vanilla.  Continue reading

Kiss Me Organics – Vanilla Matcha Latte

matchalatte
As I mentioned in a previous recipe post, Kiss Me Organics sent me a bag of their Organic Matcha Powder to try and review. I was really eager to use it in an iced matcha latte, which was one of my favorite items from Starbucks. I don’t go to Starbucks anymore for a few reasons, and I was shocked to find out how much sugar was in their matcha latte! Their matcha isn’t organic and the powder itself contains cane sugar and other ingredients. Why settle for an overpriced drink that’s way too sweet when you can have a healthy, homemade version for less than half the price? Continue reading

Matcha Milkshake

IMG_1197
Kiss Me Organics was so kind to send me a package of their Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder to try in some recipes. If you didn’t know this by now, I am a big fan of drinks whether it’s hot or iced lattes, smoothies, protein shakes, or milkshakes. I was so eager to try this matcha powder in a few recipes, and one of the first I came up with was a healthy, energizing and filling Matcha Milkshake. Matcha has its own health benefits such as increased energy, boosted metabolism, antioxidants, and more! Continue reading

NuZest – Clean Lean Protein

IMG_0332NuZest sent me some of these protein powder samples to try out, and I was so thrilled when I saw the flavors! Not only do they make the traditional chocolate and vanilla, they also make strawberry, cappuccino and natural-flavored vegan protein. This is definitely a first for me, so I went all-out and tried NuZest’s Clean Lean Protein in a few smoothies. I really love having a protein smoothie in the morning because it’s easy and a good way to get in extra nutrients when I don’t have a ton of time. Check out just a few ways you can enjoy their protein powders in some gluten-free, protein-packed, and nutritious smoothies! Continue reading

Coconut Cream Pie & Other Desserts

IMG_0601The highlight of the recent vegan and gluten-free potluck I went to was definitely the desserts. Of course, the savory dishes were also terrific, I’m just naturally a fan of sweets and I’m not afraid to admit it! I was so happy that we had a good variety of desserts from pie to bars, to pizza. Some were more summer-themed and others were making me feel like it was fall already (which I definitely can’t complain about). The pumpkin pie dip was also nice and sweet, and you can find the recipe for that one here. Now, I know you’re dying to hear the recipes for these sweet treats, so here we go! Continue reading

Better Bean – Rethought Beans

IMG_9500Better Bean makes these great bean dips, sides, and other additions that you can enjoy in so many different ways! The beans are gluten and soy free, and made with nothing but fresh and healthy ingredients. They each vary in flavor and heat in terms of spiciness, which you can find out more about on the company website. The Uncanny Refried Black Beans have just a slight kick that pairs well with avocado and salsa. It’s so easy to heat these up and serve them on top of tacos, and it adds a whole new depth of flavor and heartiness. Personally I’m not that big on tacos or burritos, but when they have these refried beans in them, you can count me in! Continue reading

Apricot, Coconut & Cashew Bars

IMG_4479Sometimes in the summer, it gets too hot to turn on the oven and bake something. This is one of those recipes that’s perfect for these kinds of occasions, since it’s a no-bake (but still delicious) treat. These bars are also gluten and soy free, healthy, and they only use a few ingredients that you likely have in your kitchen already. They contain healthy fats and good protein sources, and will last in your fridge for a while (or maybe not, they might be too good to resist). These also got the approval of non-vegans and vegans alike, so what are you waiting for? Try making them for yourself, and I would definitely give it a try with dried fruits other than apricots if you are feeling adventurous!
