Go Raw Super Cookies

Raw vegan food is something I’ve dabbled in a few times before, beginning back to my visit to 42º RAW in Copenhagen, Denmark (which I’ve actually reviewed here if you’re interested). Something that specifically catches my eye about raw food is the ability to use simple ingredients and sometimes-unusual combinations of flavors. One of my favorite raw dishes is and has always been the desserts. I love dessert in general, but raw desserts have a wonderful, natural taste to them and they don’t give you a sugar high after enjoying them. Sometimes you want a flavorful, healthier dessert with a nice crunch/chewiness to it. That’s where Go Raw’s line of Super Cookies come in. They make these raw treats in 6 different flavors, using simple components such as sesame seeds, coconut, dates, and spices. I really enjoyed this company’s energy bars so I couldn’t wait to see how their other raw products compared. Go Raw sent me their raw cookies to try each flavor and here are my thoughts on them.

I figured it was a good idea to begin with trying the Original Super Cookies. These are literally made with only 3 ingredients, but they have the perfect balance of each. I found that these Original cookies had a sweet, coconutty taste and I really loved the crunchiness of the sesame seeds. Go Raw recommends that you eat their cookies with a glass of water on the side to better digest the seeds and keep you fuller longer. Their energy bars also make the same recommendation due to the flax seeds, so I made sure to drink water alongside these too.

Next, I tried the Lemon Super Cookies, which have the same ingredients as the Original, but with added organic lemon oil. I felt that these reminded me of a crispy lemon cookie with a less sweet, but not sour, natural lemon essence. I love the fact that these use not only all-organic ingredients, but also a smart pairing of them. These would’ve probably been bitter if they had lemon zest or juice instead of the oil.

These Ginger Snaps ended up being one of my favorites of all the Super Cookies. They had a crispy texture and ginger powder that reminded me immediately of gingerbread cookies around the holidays. These are also gluten, soy, and nut-free in addition to being raw. Who needs a super processed store-bought cookie when you have this healthy, raw, clean version that tastes just as good if not better?

The Chocolate Super Cookies were a little different than I anticipated. They are not quite reminiscent of chocolate chip cookies, but they have a rich cacao flavor that goes perfectly with the coconut and dates. In fact, one of my favorite smoothies is made with coconut water, dates, bananas and cacao powder so these crispy morsels reminded me of that in a cookie form.

Carrot Cake doesn’t happen to be my first dessert of choice, but these cookies were exceptionally delicious. They feature all the flavors I like in carrot cake such as coconut, carrot, dates, and spices such as nutmeg. These would be good for literally any time of the year, and any time of the day too!

Speaking of spices, the Masala Chai Super Cookies with a surprising addition of orange peel to really bring the spices out. Though I liked these less than the ginger snaps or carrot cake cookies, I found that they were still a delightful treat. These remind me of a spicy and sweet chai which would also make them an excellent treat during the holidays. Overall, I was actually very impressed with Go Raw’s line of Super Cookies and I can’t wait to try their other products in the future! Have you tried these cookies before? Leave a comment and tell me what you thought!
